A large and finely observed 19th century English still life study of foxgloves and ferns growing among rocks, oil on canvas laid to panel by Martha Darley Mutrie. Executed with the artist’s celebrated botanical precision and sensitivity to natural form, this exceptional work represents one of the largest examples of her oeuvre, likely conceived for exhibition. The painting is in excellent condition, richly detailed, and signed at the lower right.
