Glade Meadow, circa 1876. Painted by Hans Thoma (German, 1839–1924).

This painting depicts a solitary woman gathering wildflowers in a sunlit meadow. Surrounded by soft grasses, scattered blossoms and deep woodland shadows, the scene reflects Thoma’s affection for the quiet, idyllic landscapes of his native Germany and his close observation of nature.
